Sri Lankan swimmer Matthew Abeysinghe finished third in the second heat of the men’s 100m freestyle event at the Rio Olympics 2016, missing out on qualification to the second round.
Abeysinghe clocked 50.96secs, which was the below his personal best of 50.53secs.
The heat was won by Igor Mogne with a time of 50.65secs.
Kyle Chambers of Australia clocked the fastest time in the eight heats, with a time of 47.90secs.
The top 16 qualified for the semi-finals.
